UMKC Game Notes

CHICAGO -

Opening Kickoff – The Chicago State women's soccer team heads to Missouri tomorrow afternoon to battle Western Athletic Conference-leading Kansas City at Durwood Soccer Stadium in the regular season finale for both teams beginning at 1 p.m. The contest will have a live video broadcast on the WAC Digital Network.

Scouting CSU – Chicago State looks to close out its season by playing spoiler on the Kangaroos' home field after falling to the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in last Friday's home finale at Brooks Field by a score of 2-0. Junior midfielder/forward Sara Quevedo (Lomo Blanco, Spain) leads the Green and White in scoring with 11 points via four goals and a team-leading three assists. Freshman forward/midfielder Marissa Beale (Frazier Park, Calif./Bakersfield Christian) is tied with Quevedo for the team lead with four goals, while freshman goalkeeper Judith Sorribes (Barcelona, Spain/Bisbe Berenguer) is the WAC's leader in total saves (86) and saves per game (9.56).

Scouting UMKC – Kansas City heads into tomorrow's finale sporting a 14-4 season record and sits in first place in the conference with a 6-1 record after earning a road split last weekend with a 1-0 win at Utah Valley and a 3-1 defeat at Seattle U two days later. Freshman midfielder/forward Rylan Childers has tallied a team-best 27 points on a team-high 11 assists and eight goals and senior forward Kelsey Mothershead leads UMKC with 10 goals. Freshman Afton Fennewald has recorded team highs of 52 saves, a 0.86 goals-against-average and eight shutout victories in goal.

Series History – Kansas City currently holds a 6-0 record all-time versus Chicago State in a series which date back to the Cougars' first season in 2014. UMKC produced an 8-0 victory over CSU in the teams' last meeting at Kroc Stadium in Chicago on Oct. 28, 2017.

Moving on Up in the WAC Records List – After tallying 12 saves in her final collegiate home game last Friday against UTRGV, senior Audra Wisehart (Sandusky, Ohio/Huron) will finish her collegiate career as one of the top all-time goalkeepers in the WAC in terms of saves. She has produced 404 saves for her career heading into tomorrow's finale which includes 85 stops this fall and ranks third among the all-time league leaders.

Entering CSU's Record Books – Quevedo has become CSU's career and single-season leader for assists with three this season while sitting in a tie for second place with sophomore Jensyn Stanberry (Grand Haven, Mich./Fruitport) for points in a career/season with nine. Beale is also tied with Stanberry for most goals in both career and single-season with four heading into the last four games of the season.

Entering CSU's Record Books… The Sequel – CSU's single-game record for goalkeeper saves has been tied twice within a week's span. Wisehart tallied 17 stops on Sept. 30 against California Baptist to equal her mark set in 2015, but freshman Judith Sorribes (Barcelona, Spain/Bisbe Berenguer) placed her name alongside her teammate's after stopping 17 scoring attempts last Sunday at Seattle to set a season-high total.

International Flavor - The Green and White have brought some international flavor to this year's squad with nine players hailing from five countries: Brazil (3), Spain (2), England (1), Australia (1), Hungary (1) and Canada (1).
