OPENING TIP: The Chicago State men's basketball team travels to the West Coast this week for a pair of Western Athletic Conference road games which begins Thursday night at CSU Bakersfield live on ESPN 3 with the opening tip set for 9 p.m.

SCOUTING CSU: The Cougars come into this week's contest looking to begin the final stretch of their regular season slate on a good note. Last Saturday, CSU dropped a close battle at home to the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley by a score of 87-81 despite having four players score in double figures, led by a career-high 21 points from senior guard Glen Burns (West Memphis, Ark./West Memphis Christian). Leading the Green and White in scoring is junior guard Fred Sims, Jr. (Chicago, Ill./North Lawndale) as he is averaging 14 points a game to go along with shooting 86 percent (57-of-66) from the free throw line. Senior forward/center Deionte Simmons (Detroit, Mich./Lewisville (Texas)) ranks first on the team in rebounds with 5.6 boards per game and is shooting a team-best 59 percent from the field while scoring 10.8 points a game. Burns has produced team highs of 3.9 assists and 1.4 steals per game in addition to averaging 9.9 points per contest.

SCOUTING CSUB: CSU Bakersfield, sporting an 8-15 overall record and a 1-5 conference mark, returns to the Icardo Center for its first home game since Jan. 13 after closing a three-game road swing last Saturday with a 59-55 defeat at Seattle. Freshman guard Jarkel Joiner leads four CSUB players averaging double figure scoring with 11 points per game followed by senior guard/forward Shon Briggs as he is producing 10.6 points and a team-leading 5.3 rebounds a game this season. Redshirt junior guard Damiyne Durham is third in scoring at 10.3 points per game, while junior guard Rickey Holden has posted a team-high 1.1 steals a game to go along with scoring 10 points per game.

SERIES HISTORY: CSU Bakersfield has tallied a 9-2 all-time lead against Chicago State in a series that dates back to the 2013-14 season. The Roadrunners have won the last nine meetings in the series over the Cougars, including an 89-78 victory at the Jones Convocation Center on Jan. 20.

START 'EM UP: The Green and White have produced seven different starting lineups so far this season which ranks them in a tie for 16th among NCAA Division I schools. CSU is one of four Illinois schools (Eastern Illinois, Illinois State, UIC) and one of four Western Athletic Conference programs (UT Rio Grande Valley, New Mexico State, CSUB) to make the list.

WAC TOURNEY TICKETS ON SALE: Tickets for the 2018 WAC Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas are now on sale. The tournament starts on Wednesday, March 7 with the women's first round of play, followed by a full day of men's action on Thursday, March 8. LINEUP MAINSTAYS: The mainstays in Coach Dildy's starting lineup this season has been Burns and Sims as both players have started all 23 games in the backcourt.
