Track and Field Earns Top-Five Finishes at UWM Tierney Classic

Senior Asia Johnson produced two top-five finishes on Saturday at UWM's Tierney Classic
MILWAUKEE – Chicago State track and field earned top-five finishes today as it competed at the Tierney Classic, hosted by Milwaukee at the Klotsche Center.

"Coming to Milwaukee is always a good opportunity for our team to continue to shake the cobwebs off or continue to develop our young team," said CSU head coach Craig Collins. "I am pleased at our results today I'm close to having a complete picture of our potential as we move towards our conference meet in Boise (in late February)."

Sophomore Ricordo McKenzie (Montego Bay, Jamaica/Cornwall College) and senior Asia Johnson (Guthrie, Okla./Guthrie) paced the Green and White with second-place individual finishes.

McKenzie posted a time of 6.94 to take second in the men's 60-meter dash and still holds the top time in the Western Athletic Conference in the event (6.88).

Johnson captured second in the 60-meter hurdles after crossing the finish line with a time of 9.01 and later ran a time of 7.99 to finish sixth in the 60-meter dash.

Chicago State travels to Cedar Falls, Iowa next week on Jan. 25 and 26 for the UNI Jack Jennett Open at the UNI Dome.
