Glee Sets New School Record in 300-Meter Dash at Bob Eubanks Open

Senior Jocindra Glee posted a school-record time of 40.46 to win the 300-meter dash at the Bob Eubanks Open

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Chicago State track and field made its return to action at the Grand Valley State Bob Eubanks Open by posting several top performances today at the Kelly Family Turf Building.

"It was a good showing for our young team today. After a hectic week with classes beginning and getting reacquainted with teammates, both the men's and women's teams performed well, said CSU head coach Craig Collins. "This was a good way to finish the semester and prepare for the upcoming events in 2018."

Senior Jocindra Glee (Orlando, Fla./Evans) led the CSU women as she set a new school record in the 300-meter dash after winning the event by crossing the finish line at a time of 40.46, breaking the previous mark held by Zhate Jackson by 31 tenths of a second.

Freshman Toniann Ewen (Orlando, Fla./Evans) also competed in the 300m and finished the race in seventh place with a time of 41.95.

On the men's side, sophomore Ricordo McKenzie (Montego Bay, Jamaica/Cornwall College) captured second place in the 60-meter dash when he finished with a time of 7.07 after qualifying for the finals by posting a time of 6.93 in the prelims.

"Ricordo getting second in the men's 60m and Jocindra winning the 300m in a school record time sets a great tone for us as we continue through the season. I'm proud of our mental toughness that we've developed this early in the season," Collins added.

The Green and White head to Milwaukee on Jan. 20 to compete in the annual UWM Tierney Classic at the Klotsche Center.
