This Week: Chicago State volleyball continues its road swing this weekend with four matches that starts Friday and Saturday with the Eastern Illinois Panther Classic in Charleston, Ill. The Cougars will battle Western Illinois (6 p.m.) on Friday night then take on the host Panthers (1 p.m.) and Alabama A&M (4 p.m.) on Saturday.

Scouting CSU: Chicago State has posted a 4-3 record going into this weekend's action at EIU after claiming a five-set win Tuesday night at Bradley which followed a 2-1 mark at last weekend's UC Riverside/Cal State Fullerton Invitational. Junior outside hitter Lauryn Dela Cruz (Provo, Utah/Timpview) and freshman setter Lacee Adams (Muncie, Ind./Muncie Central) both rank first in the Western Athletic Conference with averages of 4.22 kills and 10.93 assists per set, respectively.

Scouting WIU: Facing CSU for a second time this season, Western Illinois enters the invitational sporting a 3-4 record when it dropped a five-set battle at Southeast Missouri State on Tuesday following a 1-2 record at the UAB Blazer Invitational last weekend in Birmingham, Ala. The Fighting Leathernecks posted a five-set victory over Charleston Southern with defeats to Austin Peay and host UAB. WIU is paced by senior outside hitter Shaylyn Greenshaw's 2.48 kills per set average, while junior setter Jaime Johnson is dishing out an average of 8.62 assists a set.

Scouting EIU: Eastern Illinois heads into the weekend with a season record of 3-3 after posting a 1-2 mark last weekend at the Denver Pioneer Classic. The Panthers captured a three-set win over UC Davis, but also dropped a pair of three-set decisions to Niagara and the host Pioneers. Junior outside hitter/defensive specialist Taylor Smith leads the team in kills at 2.44 per set in addition to leading NCAA Division I in triple-doubles with two on the young season.

Scouting AAMU: Alabama A&M currently holds a 0-4 record on the season when it dropped a pair of matches last weekend at Mercer (1-3 and 0-3). Sophomore outside hitter Terra Brooks in AAMU's leader in kills with two per set and freshman setter Meredith Slack is averaging 5.23 assists a set with a team-leading five service aces.

Goin' Streaking: Following Tuesday's road win at Bradley, CSU produced its first three-match winning streak since the 2004 season when the Cougars captured four consecutive victories from Sept. 6-11 of that year.

Up Next: The Cougars close out the weekend on Sunday afternoon with an ESPN3 showdown at UIC starting at 4 p.m.
