Noonan Tallies First Collegiate Goal as Cougars Fall at Eastern Illinois

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Freshman Samantha Noonan (Ottawa, Ontario/Saint Francis Xavier) tallied her first collegiate goal for the Chicago State women's soccer team as it continued its nine-game road swing here today by falling to host Eastern Illinois, 5-1, at Lakeside Field.

The Panthers (3-2-1) took a 4-0 halftime lead after tallying scores in the fourth, 29th, 30th and 35th minutes of the first half.

After EIU increased its lead to 5-0 with a goal in the 49th minute, Noonan scored in the 64th minute for the Green and White after redirecting a blocked shot from fellow freshman Makayla Pearl (Cambridge, Ontario/St. Benedict Catholic) back into the home team's goal. Pearl was credited with the assist on the goal.

Sophomore Taylor Rankin (Dearborn, Mich./Edsel Ford) led CSU with three shot attempts and freshman Bailey McFarland (Lakeside, Calif./El Capitan) recorded a game-high six saves in the second half. Senior goalie Gabby Klemp (Muskegon, Mich./Reeths-Puffer) tallied four saves in the first half.

Next up for the Cougars in their road swing is a trip to Wisconsin on Friday, Sept. 8 to take on host Green Bay at Aldo Santaga Stadium beginning at 3 p.m.
