This Week: Chicago State volleyball travels southwest this weekend to compete in a pair of Western Athletic Conference matches that begins Thursday night at New Mexico State starting at 8 p.m. The Cougars then head to Texas two days later to battle the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley with a start time of 12 p.m. Both matches will be broadcast live on the WAC Digital Network.

Scouting CSU: The Cougars bring a 10-8 season record into this weekend's matches which include a 1-1 conference record following Monday night's 3-0 non-conference defeat to Drake which ended a seven-match homestand at the Jacoby Dickens Center. Last weekend, CSU opened conference play at home with a 3-1 loss to league-leading CSU Bakersfield and a 3-1 victory over Grand Canyon. Junior outside hitter Lauryn Dela Cruz (Provo, Utah/Timpview) leads the team with a conference-best 4.64 kills and 3.64 digs per set, and freshman setter Lacee Adams (Muncie, Ind./Muncie Central) is producing an average of 10.49 assists a set.

Scouting NMSU: New Mexico State has posted an 8-6 record enter Thursday's battle with CSU after falling to UT Rio Grande Valley on the road last Saturday in a five-set, conference-opening battle in Edinburg, Texas. Senior outside hitter Kassandra Tohm is leading the Aggies in kills with an average of 3.06 per set, while senior middle blocker Sasha-Lee Thomas has posted a team-best 43 blocks (four solo, 39 assisted) and junior setter Brianna Ainsworth is dishing out 6.22 assists a set.

Scouting UTRGV: UT Rio Grande Valley brings a 7-7 season record and a four-match winning streak into this week's action after posting a five-set home victory last Saturday against New Mexico State. Junior outside hitter Ragni Steen Knudsen has produced an average of 3.54 kills a set with 13 service aces and junior libero/defensive specialist Gysell Zayas leads the Vaqueros in digs at 3.85 a set. Junior setter Dubravka Vukoja has tallied a team-best 9.14 assists per set.
