Stanberry Tallies First Collegiate Goal for CSU Women’s Soccer at Western Illinois

MACOMB, Ill. – Freshman Jensyn Stanberry (Grand Haven, Mich./Fruitport) tallied her first collegiate goal as visiting Chicago State dropped a 9-1 decision today against host Western Illinois here at John MacKenzie Alumni Field.

The Green and White tallied their goal in the 77th minute as Stanberry hit a shot from 19 yards out past WIU's goalkeeper to the back of the next. Assisting on the goal for her first collegiate point was freshman Emily McGuire (Norco, Calif./Bonita).

Both teams battled through a scoreless tie for the opening 17 minutes until the Fighting Leathernecks scored goals in the 17th, 22nd, 27th, 31st and 44th minutes to gain a 5-0 lead at the half. WIU added three goals in the 46th, 61st and 78th minutes in the second half.

Junior Audra Wisehart (Sandusky, Ohio/Huron) finished with a game-high 11 saves for the Cougars.

Chicago State concludes its nine-game road swing on Thursday, Sept. 21 in Indianapolis against Butler with a start time of 6 p.m., central.
