Cougars’ Win Streak Snapped at Six after Dropping 3-0 Decision at UIC

CHICAGO – The Chicago State volleyball team saw its Division I school-record win streak snapped here today after dropping a 3-0 (20-25, 18-25, 23-25) decision to host UIC at the Flames Athletic Center on the city's west side.

CSU held a close 47-44 advantage over their hosts in digs while both teams recorded six total team blocks (one solo, 10 assisted).

Junior Carmen Carvajal (Lugo, Spain/I.E.S Lucus Augusti) led all players with a match-best 15 kills and fellow classmate Lauryn Dela Cruz (Provo, Utah/Timpview) contributed her fifth double-double of the week with 12 digs and 11 kills.

Freshman Lacee Adams (Muncie, Ind./Muncie Central) dished out a match-leading 29 assists followed by senior Paige Eyring (Mesa, Ariz./Mesa) and freshman Summer Farris (Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington) each recording four block assists.

Carla Salvato (17 digs) and Kallegh Skopal (16 assists) were the top players for the Flames (6-3).

The Cougars (7-4) open a seven-match homestand next week with the Chi State Volleyball Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Jacoby Dickens Center. Joining the Green and White in the tournament are Eastern Michigan, Louisiana, Southeast Missouri State and Wright State.
