Cougars Close Season-Opening Weekend against Northern Iowa

Senior Gabby Klemp recorded a season-high 12 saves for CSU today against Northern Iowa.

CHICAGO – Chicago State women's soccer closed out its season-opening weekend here this afternoon at Ray and Joan Kroc Stadium against visiting Northern Iowa, but the Panthers would post a 5-0 victory over the Green and White.

CSU played tough defensively against UNI for the first 15 minutes of the first half until the visitors scored the only goal of the stanza a minute later to take a 1-0 lead that went into halftime. The Panthers then added goals in the 48th, 73rd, 77th and 83rd minutes in the second half to seal the win.

Senior goalkeeper Gabby Klemp (Muskegon, Mich./Reeths-Puffer) kept Chicago State in the game defensively and finished with a season-high 12 saves.

The Green and White open a nine-game road swing on Friday, Aug. 25 at Saint Xavier in a South Side battle with a start time of 5 p.m.
