Men’s Basketball Finishes Final Road Swing at CSU Bakersfield

Junior Deionte Simmons recorded his first double-double of the season at CSU Bakersfield with 13 points and 13 rebounds.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Chicago State men's basketball finished off its final road swing of the season here Saturday night with a 69-49 loss at Western Athletic Conference leader CSU Bakersfield at the Icardo Center.
 
The Green and White were led by sophomore Anthony Eaves (Louisville, Ky./Ballard) as he produced a team-best 14 points to lead three players that scored in double figures.
 
Junior Deionte Simmons (Detroit, Mich./Lewisville (Texas)) had a big night as he produced his first double-double as a Cougar with 13 points and grabbed a season-high 13 rebounds, including seven boards on the offensive end. He also finished with two blocked shots and connected on 11-of-15 from the free throw line.
 
The final CSU player that scored double digits was sophomore Fred Sims, Jr. (Chicago, Ill./North Lawndale) as he finished with 10 points.
 
CSU Bakersfield also had three players score in double figures with Damiyne Durham posted 18 points and eight rebounds.
 
The Cougars return to the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center for their final regular season game on March 4 when they take on UMKC for Senior Day beginning at 4:35 p.m.
