CSU Volleyball Falls to Valparaiso, 3-0, in Non-Conference Finale

CHICAGO – The Chicago State volleyball team closed out the non-conference portion of its schedule here tonight after falling to visiting Valparaiso in three sets at the Jacoby Dickens Center.
 
The Crusaders posted wins in the first two sets by scores of 25-17 and 25-18 before holding off a late Cougar rally in the third set to claim a close 25-23 win.
 
CSU was led in the match by freshman Lacee Adams and sophomore Megan Klavitter. Adams recorded 32 assists, while Klavitter finished with a pair of match high totals with 16 digs and two service aces.  
 
Junior Carmen Carvajal tied for match-leading honors with nine kills, freshman Summer Farris posted eight kills, junior Lauryn Dela Cruz added seven kills, and sophomore Alexandria Cliff tallied five blocks (two solo, three assisted).
 
Valparaiso received a match-best 37 assists from Brittany Anderson and a match high-tying nine kills from Katherine Carlson.
 
CSU concludes its home schedule this Friday night at the Dickens Center with a Western Athletic Conference match against UMKC with the first serve starting at 7 p.m. The team will honor its senior class in a special Senior Day ceremony prior to the start of the match.
