Cougars Finish WAC Opening Homestand at Kroc Stadium against Utah Valley

CHICAGO – The Chicago State women's soccer team finished its Western Athletic Conference opening homestand here today at Kroc Stadium as it dropped a 9-0 decision to Utah Valley.

The Wolverines took a 7-0 lead after the game's opening 45 minutes after tallying scores in the fifth, 14th, 19th, 21st, 33rd, 37th and 43rd minutes. UVU then added a pair of goals in the 52nd and 61st minutes of the second half for the final score.

The Green and White received two shot attempts from sophomore Mariela Alba (Hanover Park, Ill./Bartlett) and freshman Jensyn Stanberry (Grand Haven, Mich./Fruitport). Senior Gabby Klemp (Muskegon, Mich./Reeths-Puffer) produced a game-leading 11 saves in the contest for CSU.

The Cougars go west next week for a weekend WAC road swing which begins Friday night at Grand Canyon with a start time at 8 p.m.
