Volleyball Closes Three-Match Road Swing with 3-0 Loss at UMKC

KANSAS CITY – The Chicago State volleyball team closed out its three-match road swing today by dropping a 3-0 decision to host UMKC at Swinney Recreation Center in a Western Athletic Conference battle between the two teams.

The Kangaroos had a battle with the Green and White during the match before claiming all three sets by identical 25-21 scores.

CSU (10-11, 1-4) was led by freshman Lacee Adams (Muncie, Ind./Muncie Central) and junior Lauryn Dela Cruz (Provo, Utah/Timpview) in the contest. Adams dished out 20 assists and Dela Cruz finished with 11 kills. Junior Carmen Carvajal (Lugo, Spain/I.E.S Lucus Augusti) added 10 digs and senior Paige Eyring (Mesa, Ariz./Mesa) contributed eight kills.

Alicia Harrington tallied a double-double to lead UMKC (6-12, 2-3) with a match-high 14 kills and added 10 digs, while Alli Schomers dished out a match-best 37 assists and Rhegan Spiegel produced a match-leading 20 digs.

The Cougars return to the Jacoby Dickens Center for a WAC weekend homestand that begins on Thursday, Oct. 12 against Utah Valley with the first serve set for 7 p.m.
