CHICAGO -

This Week: The Chicago State volleyball team closes out a three-match road trip in Missouri this Friday afternoon with a Western Athletic Conference contest against host UMKC at Swinney Recreation Center with the first serve set for 5 p.m.

Scouting CSU: Chicago State enters Kansas City sporting a 10-10 overall record with 1-3 mark in conference play following last weekend's southwest trip where it fell to New Mexico State (0-3) and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (0-3). The Cougars are led offensively by junior outside hitter Lauryn Dela Cruz (Provo, Utah/Timpview) as she is averaging a WAC-best 4.42 kills per set and freshman setter Lacee Adams (Muncie, Ind./Muncie Central) with 10.48 assists a set. The Green and White's defense is paced by sophomore libero Megan Klavitter (Fenton, Mich./Linden) (4.84 digs a set) and sophomore outside hitter Alexandria Cliff (Manitowoc, Wis./Roncalli) (58 total blocks – 10 solo, 48 assisted).

Scouting UMKC: Like CSU, UMKC returns to action looking to snap a three-match losing streak after dropping road matchups last weekend at NM State (0-3) and UTRGV (0-3) which put its season record at 5-12 that includes a 1-3 record against conference opponents. Leading the Kangaroos is sophomore outside hitter Alicia Harrington, who is currently producing averages of 3.26 digs and a team-leading 3.22 kills per set, while sophomore middle hitter Mykal Sadler has posted team highs of a .278 hitting percentage and 55 blocks (eight solo, 47 assisted) on the year. Sophomore libero/defensive specialist Rhegan Spiegel is recording 4.17 digs per set to lead the UMKC defensive effort.

Cougars Aim for D-I Wins Record: After setting Division I school records for best start to a season and longest winning streak, the Green and White are aiming to set another record for most wins in a season as the current record stands at 12 that was made during the 2004 season.

Moving on Up: The CSU D-I single-season record book has seen some changes recently as several players have etched their names on the list heading into Friday's match. Adams and Klavitter rank first in assists per set and digs per set, respectively, while Dela Cruz is sitting second in kills per set.

Up Next: The Green and White return to the Jacoby Dickens Center next week for a pair of WAC home matches that begin on Thursday, Oct. 12 against Utah Valley beginning at 7 p.m.
