This Week: The Chicago State volleyball team concludes its home slate for the season this week with a pair of matches against Midwest opponents at the Jacoby Dickens Center. CSU welcomes local rival Valparaiso to the JDC tomorrow night in a non-conference showdown with the match set to begin at 6 p.m. The Cougars then host Western Athletic Conference foe UMKC on Friday night for Senior Day in its home finale with the first serve set for 7 p.m.

Scouting CSU: Chicago State brings a 10-17 season record into this week's matches following a tight five-set loss to UT Rio Grande Valley and a tough three-set defeat to league-leading New Mexico State last week. CSU is led offensively by junior outside hitter Lauryn Dela Cruz as she has produced a WAC-best 4.31 kills per set and 4.51 points per set this season. Freshman setter Lacee Adams is dishing out a WAC-leading average of 10.25 assists a set, while junior outside hitter Carmen Carvajal has tallied a team-high 36 service aces in addition to rank second in kills at 3.38 per set. Sophomore libero Megan Klavitter is averaging a team-leading 4.58 digs a set and sophomore outside hitter Alexandria Cliff has posted 72 total blocks (11 solo, 61 assisted – 0.71 bps) for the Cougar defense.

Scouting VU: Winning four out of its six contests over the past two weeks, Valparaiso heads into tomorrow's battle with CSU holding a 13-12 season record and is 5-7 during its first Missouri Valley Conference campaign after dropping a 3-1 decision at Missouri State on Monday night. The Crusaders' top player is senior middle hitter Taylor Graboski as she averages team highs of 3.03 kills and 1.02 blocks per set in addition to hitting .276 on the year. Freshman setter Brittany Anderson has recorded 10.42 assists a set and freshman libero Rylee Cookerly leads VU in digs at an average of 5.79 per set.

Scouting UMKC: UMKC heads into this week's action sporting an 8-16 season record with a 4-7 conference mark. After dropping a 3-0 decision to New Mexico State last Thursday, the Kangaroos responded with a five-set victory two days later versus UTRGV which snapped a four-match losing streak. Sophomore outside hitter Alicia Harrington has recorded a team-high 3.35 kills and 3.16 digs per set to pace UMKC, while freshman setter Alli Schomers is producing an average of 6.50 assists a set. Sophomore libero Rhegan Spiegel (4.04 digs per set) and sophomore middle hitter Mykal Sadler (85 blocks - 1.01 bps) are currently leading the UMKC defense.

Senior Day: The Cougars will honor Shontanae Addison, Paige Eyring, Brianna Stewart and Juliana Torres in a senior day ceremony before Friday's home finale.

Adams Gains Another School Record: After recently setting CSU single-season records for assists and assists per set, Adams gained another school record as she now holds the school's Division I career record for assists per set, surpassing Catherine Everist's (2004-05) average of 7.13 per set.

Up Next: CSU travels northwest for two matches next week to close the season that begins on Nov. 9 at Seattle with a start time of 9 p.m.
