2017 CSU Women's Soccer Seniors

CHICAGO -

This Week: The Chicago State women's soccer team closes out its regular season schedule at the Ray and Joan Kroc Stadium tomorrow afternoon as it hosts Western Athletic Conference-leading UMKC which begins at 1 p.m. There will be a senior day ceremony to honor the team's four senior student-athletes.

Scouting the Cougars: CSU has produced a 1-17 season record going into the final week of the regular season after dropping a pair of contests last weekend to New Mexico State (0-8) at home and at UT Rio Grande Valley (0-6). Leading CSU is freshman forward Jensyn Stanberry (Grand Haven, Mich./Fruitport) as she has tallied four goals and nine points on the year, while sophomore midfielder Mariela Alba (Hanover Park, Ill./Bartlett) and freshman defender Emily McGuire (Norco, Calif./Bonita) have posted a team-best two assists apiece. Junior goalkeeper Audra Wisehart (Sandusky, Ohio/Huron) has recorded a team-best 81 saves on the year which also ranks first in the WAC.

Scouting the Kangaroos: UMKC heads to the Windy City having already clinched a share of the WAC regular-season title thanks to an 11-6-1 overall record and a perfect 6-0 mark against conference foes. Last week, the Kangaroos extended their winning streak to seven in a row after earning a pair of one-goal home victories over UTRGV (2-1) and NM State (1-0). Junior midfielder/forward Lexie Howard has recorded a team-best 23 points and 10 goals for UMKC and senior midfielder/forward Kara Priest is the team's assist leader with five on the season. Junior goalkeeper Anna Lillig now a goal-against average of 1.14 with 65 saves and a .824 save percentage.

Senior OG's to Be Honored at Halftime Ceremony: CSU will honor senior student-athetes Gabby Klemp (Muskegon, Mich./Reeths-Puffer), Sara Marcotte (Republic, Mo./Republic), Jordyn Stanberry (Grand Haven, Mich./Fruitport) and Katie Verheyen (Pleasant Prairie, Wis./Tremper) in a senior day ceremony for their dedication to the team at halftime of tomorrow's game.

WAC Leader: Wisehart currently leads the WAC in total saves and saves per game (9.50).

Striving for No. 1 – Stanberry ranks second on CSU's single-season list for goals scored and is one tally shy from tying for the record currently held by Jyllian Coggins, who scored five goals in the Cougars' inaugural season in 2014.
