CHICAGO -

This Week: Chicago State volleyball opens a Western Athletic Conference homestand at the Jacoby Dickens Center this week which begins off tomorrow night against Utah Valley at 7 p.m. then hosts Seattle on Saturday afternoon at 12 p.m.

Scouting CSU: Chicago State, who holds a 10-11 season record and sits 1-4 in conference play, returns home after concluding a three-match road swing last Friday at UMKC with a 3-0 defeat. The Green and White are led by junior outside hitter Lauryn Dela Cruz (Provo, Utah/Timpview) as she is averaging a WAC-best 4.39 kills per set, while junior outside hitter Carmen Carvajal (Lugo, Spain/I.E.S Lucus Augusti) is second on the team in kills at 3.46 per set.

Scouting UVU: Utah Valley enters the week sporting a record of 8-12 which includes a 3-2 record versus WAC opponents after earning a split last weekend at Lockhart Arena with a 3-1 loss to UT Rio Grande Valley and a 3-2 victory over New Mexico State. Leading the Wolverines on the season are senior outside hitter Lexi Thompson (3.43 kills a set) and senior middle blocker Madison Dennison (1.64 blocks per set, .309 hitting percentage).

Scouting SU: Seattle comes to the Midwest this weekend with a 6-12 overall record and holds a 2-3 mark against conference opponents prior to tomorrow night's WAC match at UMKC. Sophomore middle blocker Katarina Marinkovic leads the Redhawks in kills with an average of 352 per set, while junior middle blocker Maja Stojanovic has produced team highs of a .316 hitting clip and 1.08 blocks per set.

Cougars Still Aiming for D-I Wins Record: After setting Division I school records for best start to a season and longest winning streak, the Green and White are still aiming to set another record for most wins in a season as the current record stands at 12 that was made during the 2004 season. CSU need three more wins within the next month to break the mark.

Up Next: The Cougars head west for another WAC weekend road swing next week which starts on Oct. 19 in Phoenix against Grand Canyon that begins at 8 p.m.
