CHICAGO - Chicago State men's basketball makes a return to the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center this week with a two-game Western Athletic Conference homestand that begins Thursday night against CSU Bakersfield with a start time of 7:05 p.m.

SCOUTING CSU – Chicago State heads into the final week of play in January with a season record of 6-16 overall, including a 1-4 record in WAC play following last Saturday's 85-77 overtime defeat at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Sophomore guard Fred Sims, Jr. (Chicago, Ill./North Lawndale) [23 points, career-high 12 rebounds] and senior guard/forward Trayvon Palmer (Milwaukee, Wis./Brown Deer) [16 points, 10 rebounds] each recorded double-doubles for the Green and White in the UTRGV game. Sims, Jr. has posted a team-leading scoring average of 19.2 points a game. Palmer leads the WAC with 11 double-doubles in addition to posting averages 15.2 points, 9.6 rebounds and 1.4 steals per contest. Senior guard Clemmye Owens V (Toledo, Ohio/Rogers) is dishing out a team-best 2.2 assists a game to go along with scoring 9.3 points per game.

SCOUTING CSUB – CSU Bakersfield, winners of four of its last five games since Jan. 3, brings a 12-7 record into Thursday's contest at the JCC that includes a 3-1 mark against conference opponents after capturing a close 68-65 decision at the Icardo Center last Saturday night. The Roadrunners currently have four players recording double figure scoring averages on the year with redshirt senior forward Jaylin Airington leading the way at 14.9 points per game. Redshirt sophomore guard Damiyne Durham is second on the team with 14.5 points a game, while senior guard Dedrick Basile leads CSUB with averages of 3.6 assists and 1.7 steals per contest in addition to scoring 13.7 points a game. Redshirt senior Matt Smith is averaging 10 points and a team-leading 5.8 rebounds per game to go along with shooting 55 percent from the field.

SERIES HISTORY – CSU Bakersfield has tallied a 6-2 leads in the all-time series with Chicago State which dates back to the 2013-14 season. The Roadrunners have earned wins over the last six meetings in the series that included a 79-57 victory on March 10, 2016 in the quarterfinals of the WAC Tournament in Las Vegas.

CHURCH APPRECIATION DAY – The Cougars will host "Church Appreciation Day" Thursday night where church groups will receive free admittance to the game.

SUITS & SNEAKERS WEEK – Dildy and his coaching staff will participate in the Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers Week, a collaborative initiative of the American Cancer Society (ACS) and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), this week in CSU's home games against CSU Bakersfield and Grand Canyon.

UP NEXT – CSU concludes its weekend homestand on Saturday afternoon against Grand Canyon in a WAC contest with the opening tip set for 2:05 p.m.
