This Week: Chicago State volleyball takes a break from tournament play with its first non-conference midweek match on Tuesday night as it travels to Macomb, Ill. to battle in-state rival Western Illinois at Western Hall with the first serve set for 6 p.m.

Scouting Chicago State: CSU brings a 1-8 season record into Tuesday's match after going 1-2 at the ISTAP Collegiate Cup Invitational this past weekend with a three-set victory over Savannah State before dropping a pair of four-set contests to Troy and host Alabama State. Senior right side hitter Dzeni Hadzisehovic (Belgrade, Serbia/First Private School for Catering and Tourism) leads the Cougars with 2.81 kills per set and a .239 hitting percentage, and junior middle blocker Shedella Smith (Victorville, Calif./Hesperia) is producing a team-leading 26 total blocks (23 assisted, three solo – 0.96 bps) on the year. Junior setter Kelsey Taylor (Miami, Fla./Westminster Christian School) is dishing out an average of 3.87 assists per set, while freshman defensive specialist Megan Klavitter (Fenton, Mich./Linden) has posted a team-best seven service aces and senior defensive specialist Kiana Chaney (Roseville, Calif./Woodcreek) leads the Green and White in digs with an average of 3.45 a set.

Scouting Western Illinois: WIU has amassed a season record of 0-10 after falling to Green Bay (0-3), McNeese State (2-3) and host Missouri State (0-3) last weekend at the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational in Springfield, Mo. Shalyn Greenhaw currently leads the Fighting Leathernecks in kills at 2.97 per set to go along with averaging 2.65 digs and 0.51 blocks a set. Kalli Simmons paces the WIU defense with 4.08 digs a set, while Lexi Kolschefski has produced a team-leading 28 total blocks (26 assisted, two solo – 0.90 bps). Abby Skyrd is averaging 5.42 assists per set in addition to a team-high eight service aces.

WIU History: Western Illinois currently holds a 36-5 lead in the all-time series with Chicago State heading into Tuesday's match. The Cougars broke an 18-match losing streak to the Leathernecks on Sept. 19, 2015 with a three-set victory to close out the Indiana State Classic in Terre Haute, Ind. via scores of 25-19, 29-27 and 26-24.

All-Tournament…Again: Dzeni Hadzisehovic (Belgrade, Serbia/First Private School for Catering and Tourism) earned her second all-tournament team honor of the season last weekend at the ISTAP Collegiate Cup Invitational after averaging 3.82 kills per set while posting a .323 hitting percentage. Hadzisehovic tallied a career high-tying 18 kills last Saturday against Troy in addition to a pair of 12-kill efforts against Savannah State and host Alabama State.

Road Warriors: CSU continues to log in lots of mileage during the early part of the season by traveling to Tennessee, Kansas and Alabama prior to Tuesday's contest. The Cougars begin their home slate in a week against UIC at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center on Sept. 20.

Facing The Nation's Best: Four teams that competed in last year's NCAA Tournament will take on CSU this season in WAC champion New Mexico State, OVC tournament champion Belmont, Colorado State and NCAA Final Four participant Kansas.

Up Next: The Cougars close out their tournament schedule in Boulder, Colo. on Sept. 16-17 with the Omni Invitational where they will face off against host Colorado, Colorado State and New Orleans.
