Cougars Take on Eastern Illinois and Oakland in Third Week of the Season

This Week: The Chicago State women's soccer team opens the month of September with a pair of contests this weekend. CSU concludes its three-game homestand at Kroc Stadium on Friday afternoon against Eastern Illinois with a start time of 3 p.m. The Green and White then head to Michigan two days later to kick off a five-game road swing at Oakland beginning at 1 p.m., Eastern Time.

Scouting the Cougars: CSU brings a 1-2 record on the young season into this weekend's slate after breaking a 30-game losing streak on Aug. 27 after capturing a 3-2 victory over St. Xavier at Kroc Stadium. Freshman midfielder Mariela Alba (Hanover Park, Ill./Bartlett) leads the team with two goals, while sophomore midfielder Alejandra Alonso (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Hoffman Estates) and freshman forward Madison Berg (Coatesville, ind./Cascade) each tallied a team-best two assists. Junior goalkeeper Gabby Klemp (Muskegon, Mich./Reeths-Puffer) has produced team highs of 14 saves, a 2.00 goals against average and a .778 save percentage on the season.

Scouting the Panthers: Eastern Illinois heads into Friday's game with a record of 0-3 as it closes a season-opening four-game road swing after dropping a 4-0 decision at Illinois State on Aug. 28. The Panthers are paced by freshman goalkeeper Sara Teteak, who has recorded a .829 save percentage with 34 saves and a 2.33 GAA on the year.

EIU History: EIU currently has a 1-0 advantage over CSU after claiming a 4-1 win in Charleston last season during the teams' first-ever meeting at Lakeside Field. Sophomore Bri Kelly (Mason, Ohio/William Mason) recorded her first collegiate point as she assisted on the Green and White's only goal of the game.

Scouting the Golden Grizzlies: Oakland, who battles Western Michigan Friday night in a home game that will be shown on ESPN3, comes into the weekend sporting a 2-2 season record. Last weekend, the Golden Grizzlies earned a split with a 6-0 defeat at home to Kansas State before capturing 2-1 victory at Bowling Green. Lauren Bos, Katelyn Wilkowski and Alice Palmer have each scored a goal for OU. Alison Holland leads the Golden Grizzlies with eight saves, a 2.00 GAA and a .727 save percentage.

OU History: Sunday's contest will serve as the first meeting on the soccer field between CSU and Oakland.
