Men’s Basketball Closes Road Slate at Grand Canyon

PHOENIX – The Chicago State men's basketball team closed out the road portion of its schedule here Saturday night after falling to Grand Canyon by a score of 67-52 in a Western Athletic Conference showdown at the GCU Arena.
 
Freshmen Fred Sims, Jr. (Chicago, Ill./North Lawndale) and Anthony Eaves (Louisville, Ky./Ballard) scored 15 points and 12 points, respectively, to lead CSU (4-25, 0-12). Junior Trayvon Palmer (Milwaukee, Wis./Brown Deer) recorded nine points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out two assists on the night, and senior Devon Friend (Joliet, Ill./Bolingbrook) also tallied eight boards.
 
The Antelopes (24-4, 10-2) were paced by Ryan Majerle's game-high 17 points and two steals.
 
The Cougars return to the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center on Feb. 28 for a WAC home contest against the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. The game will be broadcast live on the American Sports Network with a start time of 4 p.m.
