This Week: Chicago State volleyball closes out the 2016 season this week at the Jacoby Dickens Center with its final two Western Athletic Conference home matches. CSU hosts defending WAC champion New Mexico State on Thursday night with the first serve set for 7 p.m. The Green and White then faces off against the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley on Saturday for homecoming and senior day with a start time of 12 p.m.

Scouting CSU: CSU comes into its final weekend of the season with a season record of 3-24 which includes a 1-11 record against WAC opponents after completing its final road swing last weekend with losses to CSU Bakersfield (0-3) and Grand Canyon (1-3). The team is paced offensively by junior outside hitter Juma Armando (Toronto, Canada/Archbishop Romero) as she is averaging 2.64 kills a set to go along with 1.56 digs a set. Junior setter Kelsey Taylor (Miami, Fla./Westminster Christian School) leads the team with 4.27 assists per set and 22 service aces, while freshman defensive specialist Megan Klavitter (Fenton, Mich./Linden) currently averages 2.98 digs per set and freshman middle blocker Sofia Gruden (Washburn, Ill./Metamora) has tallied 78 total blocks (73 assisted, five solo – 0.89 bps).

Scouting NMSU: New Mexico State looks to clinch the WAC regular-season title and the top seed in the WAC Tournament this week as it currently holds a 21-6 season record and ranks first in the league with an 11-1 mark. NMSU earned a five-set victory over UT Rio Grande Valley last Saturday at the Pan American Center behind a double-double from sophomore outside hitter Tatyana Battle with 28 kills and 18 digs. Junior outside hitter Jordan Abalos leads the Aggies in kills with an average of 3.79 per set, and senior setter Briana Ainsworth has produced team highs of 7.19 assists a set and a .385 hitting clip. Junior libero Ariadnne Sierra is tops on the team in digs with 4.63 per set followed by junior middle blocker Sasha-Lee Thomas producing a team-leading 78 blocks (68 assisted, 10 solo – 0.78 bps).

Scouting UTRGV: UTRGV, which opens this week's slate on Thursday at UMKC, enters the week with a record of 17-12 overall and is currently 6-6 in WAC play after last Saturday's 3-2 loss at New Mexico State. The Vaqueros are led by sophomore outside hitter Ragni Steen Knudsen with 3.54 kills per set and 36 service aces, while junior setter Tina Sekulic leads the team in assists at 7.98 a set. On the defensive end, freshman middle blocker/outside hitter Barbara Silva is averaging 1.26 blocks per set and senior libero/outside hitter Fatoumata Dacosta has posted a team-best 4.54 digs a set.

Jumpin' Juma: Armando has been on a tear over the last five matches for CSU as she has averaged 4.58 kills and 2.89 digs per set while posting a .332 hitting percentage. The Canadian newcomer has also recorded double-digit kills in four of the last five matches that included three 20-kill efforts. She recorded 20 kills and hit .325 last Saturday at Grand Canyon.

Senior Day: CSU will honor Hadzisehovic and senior defensive specialist Kiana Chaney (Roseville, Calif./Woodcreek) in a senior day ceremony prior to Saturday's season finale/homecoming match against UTRGV.
