Davis Posts Double-Double as Volleyball Falls to CSU Bakersfield at Home, 3-1

CHICAGO – Junior Corey Davis (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Thousand Oaks) tallied her second double-double of the season, but host Chicago State fell to CSU Bakersfield, 3-1, in a Western Athletic Conference volleyball match this afternoon at the Jacoby Dickens Center.

The Roadrunners posted a 2-0 lead going into intermission after claiming a 25-17 win in the first set and a 25-20 victory in the second set. The Green and White captured a 25-20 win in the third set before CSUB ended the match with a 25-22 win in the fourth set.

Davis recorded 18 assists and added 13 digs, while senior Dzeni Hadzisehovic (Belgrade, Serbia/First Private School for Catering and Tourism) posted 13 kills. Junior Kelsey Taylor (Miami, Fla./Westminster Christian School) finished with 22 assists and freshman Megan Klavitter (Fenton, Mich./Linden) recorded 15 digs with two service aces.

Freshmen Alexandria Cliff (Manitowoc, Wis./Roncalli) and Sofia Gruden (Washburn, Ill./Metamora) each recorded a match-high six blocks for the Green and White's defense.

CSU Bakersfield (6-12, 3-2) was led by a match-high 22 kills from Carol Grasso, a match-leading 32 assists from Fabriana Andrade and 22 digs from Jocelyn Rodriguez.

CSU opens a WAC weekend road swing in the southwest next week beginning Thursday, Oct. 13 at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley on the WAC Digital Network with a start time of 7 p.m.
