Cougars Drop 3-1 Decision at Home to Utah Valley

CHICAGO – Junior Juma Armando (Toronto, Canada/Archbishop Romero) tallied her second double-double of the week as host Chicago State dropped a 3-1 decision at home to Utah Valley in a Western Athletic Conference match today at the Jacoby Dickens Center.

CSU captured the first set by a 25-17 decision before the visitors won the final three sets by scores of 25-23, 25-20 and 25-20 to win the match.

Armando equaled a season high with 20 kills and added 13 digs for the Green and White while posting a .333 (20-7-39) hitting percentage.

Redshirt sophomore Brianna Stewart (Elgin, Ill./Larkin) established a new career high for kills as she tallied 16 on the day to go along with a .393 (16-5-28) hitting clip, while junior Kelsey Taylor (Miami, Fla./Westminster Christian School) dished out a season-high 31 assists.

Freshman Megan Klavitter (Fenton, Mich./Linden) produced a pair of match highs with 17 digs and three service aces, junior Corey Davis (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Thousand Oaks) recorded 15 assists and senior Dzeni Hadzisehovic (Belgrade, Serbia/First Private School for Catering and Tourism) added 12 kills.

UVU (11-13, 7-4) was led by Lexi Thompson as she recorded a double-double of 14 kills and 10 digs to go along with six block assists.

CSU hits the road for the final time this season next week beginning Thursday, Nov. 3 at CSU Bakersfield with a start time of 9 p.m.
