Armando Leads CSU Volleyball in Non-Conference Finale against Valpo

Junior Juma Armando recorded 12 kills and three block assists in tonight's non-conference finale against Valparaiso

CHICAGO – Junior Juma Armando (Toronto, Canada/Archbishop Romero) led the Chicago State volleyball team in its non-conference finale against Valparaiso here tonight with a 3-0 (14-25, 25-27, 16-25) defeat to the Crusaders at the Jacoby Dickens Center.

Armando recorded 12 kills and three block assists for the Green and White, while fellow classmate Corey Davis (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Thousand Oaks) dished out 15 assists.

Junior Kelsey Taylor (Miami, Fla./Westminster Christian School) contributed 14 assists and nine digs, and freshman Alexandria Cliff (Manitowoc, Wis./Roncalli) tallied a .600 hitting percentage (3-0-5) to go along with three blocks (two assisted, one solo).

Katherine Carlson and Jamie Lacheta each tallied a match-high 13 kills to lead Valpo (10-14).

The Cougars (3-19) return to Western Athletic Conference play this Friday night at UMKC with the first serve set for 7 p.m.
