This Week: The Chicago State volleyball team has a pair of matches this week which begins Tuesday night against Valparaiso in its final non-conference match of the season at the Jacoby Dickens Center beginning at 7 p.m. CSU then returns to Western Athletic Conference play at UMKC on Friday evening at 7 p.m.

Scouting CSU: Chicago State heads into this week's action sporting a 3-18 season record with a 1-6 ledger against WAC opponents after dropping a pair of conference matches last week to the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (0-3) and defending conference champion New Mexico State (0-3) on the road. The Green and White are paced by senior right side hitter Dzeni Hadzisehovic (Belgrade, Serbia/First Private School for Catering and Tourism) as she is averaging a team-best 2.68 kills and .183 hitting percentage, while freshman defensive specialist Megan Klavitter (Fenton, Mich./Linden) has posted team highs of 190 digs (2.64 per set) and 17 service aces. Junior setter Kelsey Taylor (Miami, Fla./Westminster Christian School) is dishing out 3.82 assists a set and freshman middle blocker Sofia Gruden (Washburn, Ill./Metamora) has posted a team-leading 59 blocks (55 assisted, four solo – 0.88 bps).

Scouting VU: Valparaiso comes to the JDC with a season record of 9-14 and is 2-6 in Horizon League play. Last week, the Crusaders earned a split in a pair of conference matches with a 3-0 win at Oakland before dropping a 3-1 home decision to Milwaukee. Sophomore outside hitter Katherine Carlson has produced team highs of 2.75 kills per set and 24 service aces. Junior middle hitter Taylor Grabowski leads the team with a .229 hitting percentage and 67 blocks (59 assisted, eight solo – 0.75 bps), while sophomore right side hitter/setter Lizzie Zaleski has dished out a team-best 6.59 assists a set and junior outside hitter Allison Ketcham leads the team in digs at 3.50 per set.

Scouting UMKC: UMKC heads into Friday's WAC showdown at home with the Cougars producing a 10-10 which includes a 3-4 mark in conference play. The Kangaroos dropped two road conference matches last week with a close 3-2 loss at New Mexico State and a 3-0 defeat at UT Rio Grande Valley two days later. The top player for UMKC is redshirt senior middle blocker Emma Hagedorn with 2.97 kills and 0.88 blocks per set to go along with a .451 hitting percentage. Senior setter Kaylyn Brandt is dishing out a team-high 10.78 assists per set, while senior outside hitter/defensive specialist Brianna Starr leads the team with 3.78 digs a set and junior outside hitter Devan Porter has recorded a team-leading 17 service aces.

Greek Night: CSU volleyball will host a Greek Night in Tuesday's match against Valpo at the JDC to honor and recognize the University's 11 fraternaties and sororities.

Up Next: The Cougars return to the Dickens Center for two WAC matches to close out the month of October next week on Oct. 27 against Seattle (7 p.m.) and Oct. 29 versus Utah Valley (12 p.m.).
