Volleyball Concludes WAC Weekend Southwest Swing with 3-0 Loss at NM State

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The Chicago State volleyball team concluded its weekend Western Athletic Conference road trip through the southwest this afternoon after falling to host New Mexico State in a 3-0 (19-25, 19-25, 20-25) defeat at the Pan American Center.
 
Freshman Megan Klavitter (Fenton, Mich./Linden) led all players in the match with 16 digs, while junior Corey Davis (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Thousand Oaks) dished out 11 assists. Junior Juma Armando (Toronto, Canada/Archbishop Romero) contributed nine digs and eight kills, and fellow junior Thais Vieira (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil/ADN) finished with six kills for the Green and White.
 
NM State (17-4, 7-0) received double-double efforts from Jordan Abalos (13 kills, 10 digs) and Taylor Battle (12 kills, 11 digs) in addition to Brittani Ainsworth posted a match-high 25 assists.
 
For the match, CSU (3-18, 1-6) held a 6-4 advantage over the Aggies in blocks while both teams each recorded 45 digs.
 
CSU takes a break from WAC play on Tuesday, Oct. 18 with its final non-conference match of the season against Valparaiso at the Jacoby Dickens Center beginning at 7 p.m. The match will also serve as Greek Night as all fraternities and sororities in the University will be honored.
