Volleyball Opens WAC Southwest Weekend Trip with 3-0 Loss at UTRGV

EDINBURG, Texas – Chicago State volleyball opened a weekend Western Athletic Conference road swing in the southwest here tonight with a 3-0 (16-25, 16-25, 14-25) loss at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley at the UTRGV Fieldhouse.

The Green and White were paced by junior Corey Davis (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Thousand Oaks) as she dished out 13 assists and added six kills, while fellow juniors Juma Armando (Toronto, Canada/Archbishop Romero) and Paige Eyring (Mesa, Ariz./Mesa) also recorded six kills.

Junior Kelsey Taylor (Miami, Fla./Westminster Christian School) added a match-best 12 digs with nine assists, freshman Alexandria Cliff (Manitowoc, Wis./Roncalli) tallied three block assists, and freshman Megan Klavitter (Fenton, Mich./Linden) and junior Thais Vieira (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil/ADN) each contributed nine digs for CSU (3-17, 1-5).

Ragni Steen Knudsen recorded match highs of 16 kills and two service aces to lead the host Vaqueros (14-7, 4-2).

The Cougars finish their weekend road swing this Saturday afternoon at defending WAC champion New Mexico State with the first serve set for 12 p.m., Mountain Time.
