Cougars Fall to WAC Co-Leader Grand Canyon at Home

Freshman Fred Sims, Jr. scored 13 points to lead CSU Thursday night

CHICAGO – The Chicago State men's basketball team continued its three-game homestand with a Western Athletic Conference contest Thursday night against conference co-leader Grand Canyon as the visiting Antelopes would capture a 90-65 victory.

GCU (17-2, 4-0) would take the lead in the early part of the first half en route to gaining a 43-31 halftime advantage and later cruised through the second half for the win.

Freshman Fred Sims, Jr. (Chicago, Ill./North Lawndale) scored 13 points to lead Chicago State (4-18, 0-5), while junior Elliott Cole (Chicago, Ill./Powerhouse) contributed 10 points. Redshirt sophomore Clemmye Owens V (Toledo, Ohio/Rogers) finished with eight points and grabbed a team-leading five rebounds, and freshman Delundre Dixon (Rockford, Ill./Auburn) also recorded eight points and added two steals.

Joshua Braun and Grandy Glaze recorded double-doubles to lead the Antelopes as each player tallied 19 points and 10 rebounds.

The Green and White return to action on Saturday afternoon with a WAC showdown against Utah Valley with a start time of 2:05 p.m.
