Cougars Fall at Home to CSU Bakersfield, 67-56

Senior Kieran Woods led CSU with 15 points, six assists and three steals Monday night against CSU Bakersfield

CHICAGO – Chicago State men's basketball ended its two-game homestand at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center Monday night by falling at home to CSU Bakersfield in a Western Athletic Conference contest by a score of 67-56.

The Cougars (4-14, 0-2) were paced by senior Kieran Woods (Chicago, Ill./Crane), who scored 15 points while posting game highs of six assists and three steals.

In addition to Woods, redshirt sophomore Clemmye Owens V (Toledo, Ohio/Rogers) added 11 points and freshman Fred Sims, Jr. (Chicago, Ill./North Lawndale) contributed nine points. Sophomore Montana Byrd (Chicago, Ill./Mount Carmel) grabbed a team-leading six rebounds for the Green and White.

Aly Ahmed shot 8-of-10 from the field to score a game-high 22 points for CSUB (12-5, 2-0).

Chicago State travels to Texas this Thursday night for a WAC showdown against the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley at UTRGV Fieldhouse in the WAC Digital Network Game of the Week beginning at 7 p.m.
