Volleyball Drops 3-0 Decision to Central Connecticut State at UIC Invite

Senior Essence Jackson-Jones tallied a match-best six blocks Friday against Central Connecticut State

CHICAGO – Chicago State volleyball opened the UIC Invitational Friday afternoon with a three-set defeat to Central Connecticut State at the Flames Athletic Center. The Blue Devils captured the match by scores of 25-8, 25-19 and 25-23.

CSU was led by senior Essence Jackson-Jones (Muskegon, Mich./Muskegon), who tallied a match-best six blocks (two solo, four assisted) and added seven kills. Jackson-Jones also produced a team-best .313 hitting percentage (7-2-16) and junior Logan Miller (Palm Harbor, FL/Palm Harbor University) posted a team-high eight kills.

Sophomore Corey Davis (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Thousand Oaks) dished out a match-leading 24 assists and fellow classmate Shontanae Addison (Little Elm, Texas/Wakeland) recorded a match-best 17 digs. Sophomore Arieta Vaimaona (Lauli'i, American Samoa/Faga'itua) finished the match with seven kills and four blocks (two solo, two assisted).

The Cougars close out play in the invitational on Saturday against Morgan State at 1 p.m. and host UIC at 4 p.m. in a match that will be broadcast live on ESPN3.com.
