Women's Soccer Opens WAC Play at Missouri-Kansas City

This Week: The Chicago State University women's soccer team travels to Missouri this weekend to open its Western Athletic Conference schedule as it takes on Missouri-Kansas City this Sunday afternoon with a start time of 1 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on the WAC Digital Network.

Scouting the Cougars: CSU heads into this Sunday's conference opener with a 0-9 season record after concluding its non-conference slate a week ago with losses to Indiana State (0-6) and Eastern Illinois (1-4). Sophomore forward Jyllian Coggins (Birch Run, Mich./Birch Run) leads CSU with two points, while freshman midfielder Amber Jones (St. Louis, Mo./Mary Institute Country Day) has recorded a team-best eight shot attempts. Freshman goalkeeper Audra Wisehart (Sandusky, Ohio/Huron) currently leads the WAC and is nationally-ranked in saves (58) and saves per game (7.25).

Scouting the Kangaroos: UMKC brings a 6-3 record and has posted wins in three of its last five contests since Sept. 4. Last week, the Kangaroos earned a split in a pair of home games last week with a 1-0 victory over Eastern Illinois and a 2-1 loss to Oklahoma State. Freshman midfielder Reighan Childers has produced a team-leading 10 points on four goals and two assists, while freshman midfielder/forward Lexie Howard is tied with Childers with four goals and has added nine points. Senior goalkeeper Nina Tzianos currently leads UMKC with a 0.81 goals against average with 51 saves and three shutouts on the year.

Nationally Known: Chicago State is currently the NCAA Division I leader in saves per game with a Western Athletic Conference-best average of 13.11 per contest.

Up Next: CSU returns to Ray and Joan Kroc Stadium for a pair of WAC matches next week. The Cougars take on two-time defending WAC Champion Seattle on Oct. 2 at 3 p.m. then take on Utah Valley on Oct. 4 with a start time of 1 p.m.
