Women's Soccer Battles Two Horizon League Teams This Week

This Week: Chicago State women's soccer takes on a pair of Horizon League teams this weekend beginning with a road game at Green Bay on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. The Cougars then return to the Ray and Joan Kroc Stadium on Sunday with an afternoon showdown against Milwaukee with a start time of 2 p.m.

Scouting the Cougars: Chicago State comes into this weekend's slate of competition by sporting a season record of 0-5. The Cougars concluded their three-game homestand at Kroc Stadium last week with a pair of losses to South Dakota (0-4) and SIU Edwardsville (0-7). Freshman midfielder Amber Jones (St. Louis, Mo./Mary Institute Country Day) has recorded six shots on the year to lead CSU, while freshman goalkeeper Audra Wisehart (Sandusky, Ohio/Huron) is leading the team in saves with 24.

Scouting the Phoenix: Green Bay has tallied a 1-4 record heading into Friday's showdown with CSU after earning a split in the Dakotas last weekend. The Phoenix captured a 2-1 win at North Dakota before ending the weekend with 4-3 loss at South Dakota. Senior forward Heidi Hartmann has recorded a team-leading four goals and 22 shot attempts. Freshman goalkeeper Kelly Kent leads GB with 29 saves and a .784 save percentage.

Scouting the Panthers: Milwaukee currently holds a season record of 2-2 entering Friday's home game versus Wisconsin at Englemann Stadium. The Panthers broke a two-game losing skid last Sunday with a 2-1 win at Northern Illinois in DeKalb, Ill. Freshman forward Lourdes Onwuemeka, who was recently named Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week, leads UWM with three points on a goal and an assist on the young season. Junior goalkeeper Paige Lincicum has tallied team highs of 20 saves and a goals against average of 1.33 with an .833 save percentage this year.

Nationally Known: CSU is ranked fourth among the NCAA Division I leaders in saves with a Western Athletic Conference-leading average of 9.40 per game.

Up Next: The Cougars will play two more non-conference games next week as preparation for WAC competition later this month. The Green and White host Indiana State on Sept. 18 in Kroc Stadium at 1 p.m. before facing Eastern Illinois on the road on Sept. 20 beginning at 1 p.m.
