OPENING TIP – The Chicago State University men's basketball team continues a five-game road stretch on Wednesday evening with a trip to DeKalb, Ill., to take on host Northern Illinois at the NIU Convocation Center in an ESPN 3 live broadcast with the opening tip set for 7 p.m.

SCOUTING CSU – CSU heads into Wednesday's game with a season record of 3-4 and is looking to snap a three-game losing streak. The Green and White dropped a pair of games to Jacksonville State (65-68) and Alabama State (64-66) to conclude the Emerald Coast Classic last weekend in Niceville, Fla. Senior guard Kieran Woods (Chicago, Ill./Crane) leads the Cougars with 15.3 points and a Western Athletic Conference-leading 3.4 steal per game while shooting 52 percent from the field. Junior guard Elliott Cole (Chicago, Ill./Powerhouse) is second on the team in scoring at 14.7 points per game while dishing out a team-best 3.4 assists a game, and junior guard/forward Trayvon Palmer (Milwaukee, Wis./Brown Deer) is grabbing a team-leading average of 9.1 rebounds per contest.

SCOUTING NIU – Northern Illinois brings a perfect 6-0 record into Wednesday's showdown that includes a 5-0 mark at the NIU Convocation Center. NIU continued its win streak with a 66-59 road victory at Idaho on Nov. 28 behind a pair of double-double efforts from junior guard Aaric Armstead (17 points, 10 rebounds) and redshirt sophomore center Marin Maric (14 points, 11 rebounds). Armstead is averaging 12.8 points a game to lead the Huskies, while Marshawn Wilson is second in scoring at 10.8 points per contest. Maric is grabbing a team-leading 6.8 rebounds a game in addition to a 10.3 point-per-game scoring average.

SERIES HISTORY – NIU currently holds a 22-0 advantage in the all-time series with Chicago State, but Wednesday's game marks the first meeting between the two schools in over five years. The Huskies captured the last matchup with the Cougars by a score of 99-93 at the Jones Convocation Center on Jan. 6, 2010 as both teams had four players score in double figures.

ALL-TOURNEY HONORS FOR COLE – Junior Elliott Cole (Chicago, Ill./Powerhouse) was named to the all-tournament team at the Emerald Coast Classic last weekend after recording averages of 17.5 points, 3.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game. Cole also shot 92 percent from the free throw line and 43 percent from three-point range while producing season highs of 20 points and six assists versus Illinois on Nov. 23.

STRIVE FOR NO. 1 – CSU head coach Tracy Dildy heads into tonight's game needing five wins to become the program's record holder for most Division I coaching wins. Dildy has amassed 45 career wins and is behind legendary Cougar bench boss Bob Hallberg (49) for the record.

UP NEXT – Chicago State concludes its road swing on Saturday, Dec. 5 versus inter-city rival DePaul at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill. The game will be broadcast live on the Fox Sports One network with a start time of 1 p.m.
