Cougars Fall to UTRGV to Open Final Homestand

CHICAGO – Chicago State volleyball opened its final homestand of the season Thursday night with a 3-0 (21-25, 19-25, 12-25) loss to the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in a Western Athletic Conference at the Jacoby Dickens Center.
 
Junior Logan Miller (Palm Harbor, FL/Palm Harbor University High) led CSU (1-23, 0-10) with nine kills, while sophomore Corey Davis (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Thousand Oaks) dished out 25 assists and redshirt freshman Brianna Stewart (Elgin, Illinois/Larkin) finished with 13 digs. The Green and White also received six kills from junior Melina Staengle (Sindelfingen, Germany/Schickhardtgymnasium) and sophomore Arieta Vaimaona (Lauli'i, American Samoa/Faga'itua).
 
Bojana Mitrovic recorded a match-high 12 kills and added seven digs to lead UTRGV (9-15, 2-7).
 
The Cougars finish off their home schedule on Saturday afternoon with a showdown against WAC-leading New Mexico State with the first serve set for 12 noon. Prior to the match, CSU will hold its annual Senior Day ceremony.
