Woinowsky Records Match-High 16 Kills Versus Grand Canyon

CHICAGO – Junior Elli Woinowsky (Berlin, Germany/Merian Oberschule) tallied a match-high 16 kills to lead the Chicago State volleyball team in its Western Athletic Conference home contest against Grand Canyon Saturday afternoon at the Jacoby Dickens Center.

The visiting Antelopes won the match in three sets by scores of 25-22, 25-14 and 25-20.

Sophomore Corey Davis (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Thousand Oaks) recorded 26 assists and added five kills, while fellow sophomore Shontanae Addison (Little Elm, Texas/Wakeland) finished with 15 digs and dished out a season-best four assists for the Cougars (1-20, 0-7).

GCU (4-15, 2-5) was led by Randahl Powers as she produced a double-double of a match-high 31 assists and 12 digs. Melody Horton posted 13 kills and Emily Christensen notched a match-leading five blocks assists.

Chicago State heads to the Northwest for a weekend WAC series next week beginning Thursday, Oct. 22 at Seattle with a start time of 7:30 p.m., Mountain Time.
