Volleyball Falls at Valparaiso in Non-Conference Finale

Elli Woinowsky tallied 11 digs and eight kills in Tuesday's non-conference finale at Valparaiso

VALPARAISO, Ind. – The Chicago State volleyball team finished off the non-conference portion of its schedule here on Tuesday night as it fell to host Valparaiso in three sets (22-25, 9-25, 16-25) at VU's Athletics-Recreation Center.

CSU (1-18) was led by junior Elli Woinowsky (Berlin, Germany/Merian Oberschule), who recorded 11 digs and eight kills.

Redshirt freshman Brianna Stewart (Elgin, Illinois/Larkin) contributed seven kills and three block assists, while sophomore Corey Davis (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Thousand Oaks) dished out 12 assists. Junior Logan Miller (Palm Harbor, FL/Palm Harbor University High) and sophomore Arieta Vaimaona (Lauli'i, American Samoa/Faga'itua) each added three block assists.

Emily Campbell recorded a match-leading 14 kills to lead Valpo (17-4). Allison Ketcham tallied 21 digs and Kelsey Berrington finished with 20 assists.

The Green and White return to Western Athletic Conference play on Thursday night against Bakersfield with a start time of 7 p.m. The match will also serve as the team's Dig Pink match, which provides awareness for breast cancer research.
