The Chicago State Women's Volleyball team will be hosting the Windy City Classic this coming Friday (9/5) and Saturday (9/6) at the Jacoby Dickens Center on campus at Chicago State.
The lady Cougars will play a total of three matches over two days. They will first face off against in-city rival, UIC, on Friday night @ 7:00pm CST. They will follow that up with two matches on Saturday, with the first of those two against Depaul @ Noon CST, and capping off their weekend endeavors against Syracuse on Saturday evening @ 7:00pm CST.In other matches taking place on the same days, Syracuse will match up against Depaul at 5:00pm CST on Friday evening, UIC and Syracuse will start the day off on Saturday with a 10am CST match, and Depaul and UIC face off at 5:00pm CST later on Saturday.Chicago State will be looking to change the tide of momentum in their youthful season, currently sitting with a record of 1-3 after losing back to back matches against Wright State and Indiana State this past Saturday.
In previewing this weekend's matches, Cougars' head coach, Dawn Barnes, said - "After a weekend that saw our first win, as well as a few setbacks, I think we are ready to make a more consistent statement. Bringing in a program the caliber of Syracuse and hosting two of our neighbors in UIC and DePaul makes this weekend a very important one for us. It creates a golden opportunity for us to show where this program is headed."Chicago State's Junior Outside Hitter, Amber Graham (Las Vegas, Nev./Arbor View), will attempt to continue her successful season, as she was named to the All-Tournament team this past weekend at Indiana State's Holiday Inn Invitational.Both days of play this weekend at the JDC will include free admission.Â
