Chicago State Falls 91-41 To Idaho

Moscow, Idaho – The Chicago State women's basketball team fell to the conference-leading Idaho Vandals 91-41 at the Cowan Spectrum on Thursday evening (March 6).

The Vandals jumped out to a 7-0 lead to begin the game and kept the Cougars at bay in the first half by shooting 16-30 (53.3 percent).The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) leader went into half-time with a 41-22 lead over the Cougars. 

Sophomore Layne Murphy (Country Club Hills, Ill./Rich Central) led the Cougars with six points and five rebounds in the first half.

Chicago State couldn't get back in the game as Idaho shot 19-36 (52.8 percent) in the second half. For the game, the Vandals shot 35-66 (53.0 percent) and made 12 three-pointers.

Idaho's Alyssa Charlston led all players with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Stacy Barr pitched in 16 points, six rebounds, two steals and a block in the victory.

Murphy led the Cougars 14 points and seven rebounds in the loss.

Chicago State fell to 3-25 and 0-15 in the WAC while Idaho improved to 21-8 and 14-1 in conference play. The Cougars wrap up the regular season at Seattle on Saturday (March 8). Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m. PT.
