LAS VEGAS – Chicago State women's basketball saw their 2013-14 season come to an end on Wednesday (March 12) afternoon with a loss in the Western Athletic Conference Tournament Quarterfinals at the Orleans Arena. The No. 8 seed Cougars fell to top overall seed Idaho 84-43.

"You have to give Idaho credit," Chicago State head coach Angela Jackson said. "They've been a tough matchup for us and they executed today. They are good inside and when you help in the post they shoot the lights out too. They are a good all around team."

Early on the Vandals were quick on the trigger from long range. Idaho made 11-of-21 3-point attempts in the first half. Christina Salvatore connected on 4-of-6 in the opening half. Idaho made just 3-of-8 in the second half with Salvatore missing all four she tried from beyond the arc. However Idaho's early shooting fueled a 14-0 run midway through the first half that ended up being the difference.

Salvatore led all scores with 18 points. She helped Idaho shoot 53.3 percent (32-of-60) for the game. Chicago State finished the contest shooting 29.8 percent (17-of-57).

Sophomore Jasmine Sanders (Country Club Hills, Ill./Hillcrest) tied a career high with 14 points. Freshman Cailin Nix (Martinsville, Ind./Martinsville) added 11 points. Sophomore Layne Murphy (Country Club Hills, Ill./Rich Central) pitched in eight points while grabbing nine rebounds.

The Cougars finish the 2013-14 season 3-27. Idaho improves to 23-8 on the year and advances to the WAC Tournament Semifinals. The Vandals will play the winner of UTPA and New Mexico State on Friday at noon.
