Volleyball Falls at Home to Green Bay, 3-1

Junior Elli Woinowsky tallied her team-leading seventh double-double of the season Tuesday night against Green Bay with 14 kills and 14 digs
CHICAGO – The Chicago State volleyball team opened another short two-match homestand this week at the Jacoby Dickens Center on Tuesday night with its annual Dig Pink match against visiting Green Bay. The Cougars fell to the Phoenix in four sets via scores of 25-19, 17-25, 23-25 and 17-25.

CSU (6-19) was led by junior Elli Woinowsky (Berlin, Germany/Merian Oberschule), who recorded her team-leading seventh double-double of the season as she tallied a match-leading 14 kills with 14 digs. Sophomore Chinwendu Ngwadom (Raleigh, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) added 10 kills and a match-high seven blocks (one solo, six assisted), while junior Milicia Zmiric also contributed 10 kills on the night.

Freshman Sarah Metcalfe (Huntington Beach, Calif./Los Alamitos) dished out a season-best 41 assists and senior Julia Menhart (Augsburg, Germany/FOS Friedberg) posted a season-high 28 digs. Junior Alex Messner (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Fremd) recorded 10 digs and six kills for the Green and White.

Green Bay was led by Kayla Pfeiffer's 12 kills in addition to receiving a match-high 30 digs from Jillian Bauer.

The Cougars get back into Western Athletic Conference play this Saturday at the Dickens Center against Bakersfield with the first serve being set for 1 p.m.
