CHICAGO – Green Bay shot 55.9 percent from the floor to upend the Chicago State Cougars 98-62 on Tuesday (Jan. 7) in a non-conference contest at the Jones Convocation Center.
The previous meeting between the two clubs, Nov. 10, 2012 at Green Bay, came down to the final moments with Green Bay earning a 72-67 decision. Tuesday night wasn't as close for the Cougars. Green Bay used a 16-0 run in the game's first 10 minutes to turn an 11-9 Chicago State lead to a 25-11 Green Bay advantage. Keifer Sykes was the early sparkplug for the Phoenix, scoring 13 of his 21 points in the opening 20 minutes. He finished with nine assists and two steals in addition to his game-high point total.

Nate Duhon (Lansing, Mich./Sexton) with 1:15 remaining in the first half put the Cougars down by nine points before a dunk by Green Bay's Alec Brown put the point total at 40-29 in favor of Green Bay at the break.
It was still an 11-point game with 12:04 remaining in the contest after a 3-pointer by senior
Markus Starks (Calumet City, Ill./Wirt (Ind.)) made the score 61-50. However Green Bay answered with a 12-3 run to end the Cougars' hopes of coming back.
The Phoenix held a 52-20 edge in points in the paint and limited the Cougars to 20-of-59 (33.9 percent) from the floor.

Matt Ross (Dixon, Ill./Dixon) led the Cougars with 18 points. He is two points shy of the 500 mark for his Chicago State career. Junior
Clarke Rosenberg (Skokie, Ill./Evanston Township) added 10 points and three assists.
Green Bay improves to 12-3. Chicago State falls to 6-9. The Cougars return to Western Athletic Conference play on Saturday (Jan. 11) at 5:15 p.m. CT at Kansas City. The game will be aired on ESPN3.
