CHICAGO
– New Mexico State stayed undefeated in the Western Athletic Conference thanks to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-12) victory over Chicago State on Thursday (Oct. 10) at the Jacoby Dickens Center on CSU's campus.

The home standing Cougars were led offensively by senior Rachel Levitt (Willow Springs, Ill./Lyons Township)'s match-high eight kills. Her effort couldn't keep up with the Aggies attack which hit .486 for the match. Setters Ciara Brown and Taylor Livoti each notched 17 assists.

The match started well for the Cougars as junior Mia Townsell (Gardnerville, Nev./Douglas) recorded an ace for the first point of the match. The Cougars opened a 5-1 lead thanks to a block by senior Paula Sioto (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Instituto Educacional Raphael Di Santo) and freshman Chinwendu Ngwadom (Raleigh, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) for point three and a block by junior Valeria Desiderio (Chicago Heights, Ill./Bloom) and senior Madeleine Radtke (Stevensville, Mich./Lakeshore) for point five. New Mexico State rallied back and eventually took their first lead of the set at 13-12. From there the Aggies took control of the frame. It was much of the same in sets two and three.

Sioto added seven kills and three block assists. Ngwadom had four blocks including a solo as the Cougars and Aggies each recorded seven blocks.

New Mexico State improves to 10-8 (5-0 WAC). The Cougars fall to 2-17 (0-5 WAC).  Chicago State stays in WAC play on Saturday with a visit by UTPA. First serve with the Broncs is set for 1 p.m.
