MACOMB, Ill. – Chicago State volleyball fell in a non-conference match at Western Illinois 25-12, 25-14, 25-12 on Tuesday (Sept. 11) evening.
The Cougars were led offensively by freshman
Alyssa Podwell (Homer Glenn, Ill./Providence Catholic)'s (Homer Glenn, Ill./Providence Catholic) six kills. Sophomore
Valeria Desiderio (Chicago Heights, Ill./Bloom) (Chicago Heights, Ill./Bloom) added nine digs and five kills.
Western Illinois' Samantha Fournier put together 16 kills for the Leathernecks. She helped Western Illinois hit .305 as a team.
The Cougars are still without senior captain
Sydney Van Munster (Hudsonville, Mich./Portland) (Hudsonville, Mich./Portland/Grand Rapids CC) and her team-leading 81 kills due to an injury.
Western Illinois improves to 5-5 while Chicago State falls to 2-11. The Cougars play in Loyola's Rambler Challenge this weekend. Chicago State will play host Loyola at 2 p.m. on Friday. On Saturday, the Cougars will take on USC Upstate and DePaul.
