EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – Chicago State men's basketball dropped a non-conference game at SIUE 71-57 on Saturday (Dec. 1) in Chicago State's final contest before hosting DePaul on Wednesday.
Chicago State led 34-26 at the break and held a lead as large as 11. Early on it was success from beyond the arc that lifted Chicago State to the early lead. CSU made three of their first five attempts. All told Chicago State made six first half 3-pointers.
Looking to get back into the contest, SIUE turned up the defensive intensity by pressing in the backcourt. It worked, as SIUE was able to transfer Chicago State turnovers into points. SIUE put together a 16-0 run and took a 48-41 lead at 12:31. With all of the momentum on SIUE's side, Chicago State scored seven consecutive points to knot it at 48. Sophomore
Clarke Rosenberg (Skokie, Ill./Evanston Township) (Skokie, Ill./Evanston Township) had five points in the push.
It stayed close until around the four-minute mark. Senior
Jeremy Robinson (Decatur, Ill./Eisenhower) (Decatur, Ill./Eisenhower/Iowa Western CC) picked up his fifth foul on the offensive end and SIUE followed with back-to-back 3-pointers to go up 63-52. SIUE held on from there.

Matt Ross (Dixon, Ill./Dixon) (Dixon, Ill./Dixon/Sauk Valley CC) notched a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Chicago State dominated the glass, holding a 48-29 rebounding advantage. However SIUE committed only nine turnovers while forcing 20 for Chicago State.
SIUE improves to 2-3. Chicago State falls to 2-7. Chicago State hosts DePaul on Wednesday (Dec. 5). The game will be aired live on Lakeshore Public Television. Tip is set for 7:05 p.m. CT.
