Utah Valley Edges CSU Volleyball 3-0 On Senior Day

Cougars play in GWC Tournament next week

CHICAGO – Chicago State volleyball fell 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-20) to Great West Conference leader Utah Valley on Saturday (Nov. 10) afternoon in the regular season finale for the Cougars. Seniors Sydney Van Munster (Hudsonville, Mich./Portland) (Hudsonville, Mich./Portland/Grand Rapids CC) and Madeleine Radtke (Stevensville, Mich./Lakeshore) (Stevensville, Mich./Lakeshore/Prairie State) were honored before the match as part of Senior Day festivities.
 
The Cougars held a lead in each set, but long Utah Valley scoring runs put the Wolverines in position to rally each time. In the first set it was a 9-0 run. McKenna Tait recorded five of her eight aces in the stretch. In the third set, Chicago State saw a 5-1 and 11-6 lead evaporate following an 11-1 Wolverines run.
 
Van Munster hit .467 with seven kills and no errors on 15 attempts. Junior Mysta Townsell (Gardnerville, Nev./Douglas) (Gardnerville, Nev./Douglas) delivered 16 digs and a season-high four aces
 
Utah Valley improves to 15-8 (7-1 GWC). The Cougars fall to 2-28 (0-8 GWC). With the regular season over the focus now shifts to the GWC Tournament. Chicago State will be the No. 5 seed and play No. 4 seed NJIT at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 16. The tournament is hosted by Utah Valley in Orem, Utah.
