Volleyball Closes Out Radford Tournament

Senior Alexandra Mason was named to the all-tournament team at the Radford Tournament after a 16-kill performance against USC Upstate
CHICAGO – The Chicago State volleyball concluded play at the Radford Tournament Saturday with a pair of matches at RU's Dedmon Center in Radford, Va.
 
The Green and White (1-7) dropped a 3-0 decision to the host Highlanders via scores of 25-12, 25-19, and 25-17 in the first match of the day before falling to USC Upstate in three by scores of 25-23, 25-18, and 25-22 in the tournament finale.
 
Junior Sydney Van Munster (Hudsonville, Mich./Portland) (Hudsonville, Mich.) tallied a match-high 10 kills against Radford, while freshman Emily Kramolisch (Bolingbrook, IL/Bolingbrook) (Bolingbrook, Ill.) nearly posted a double-double with 13 assists and eight digs, and sophomore Mysta Townsell (Gardnerville, Nev./Douglas) (Gardnerville, Nev.) contributed 12 digs.
 
Rachel Wiechecki led RU with seven kills, and Jena Braden and Christine Beckham each added 17 assists.
 
In the USC Upstate match, senior Alexandra Mason (Beaverton, OR/Harper College) (Beaverton, Ore.) posted a season-best 16 kills and a .577 hitting percentage (16-1-26) to lead the Cougars. Freshman Angelica Brewer (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) (Indianapolis, Ind.) recorded 18 assists and eight kills, and Kramolisch posted three service aces.
 
Leading the Spartans was Kelsie Queen, who finished with nine kills, and Emily Sanders posted a match-high 29 assists.
 
Mason was selected to the all-tournament team for her play this weekend.
 
The Cougars return to action this Tuesday evening with a road contest against Butler in Indianapolis with a start time of 6 p.m.
