Cougars Open Four-Game Road Swing with Non-Conference Road Contest at Saint Louis

Carl Montgomery tallied a game-high 22 points tonight at Saint Louis

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Chicago State men's basketball opened a four-game road swing to close out the regular season here tonight as it fell to host Saint Louis by a score of 90-52 at SLU's Chaifetz Arena. The Billikens improved their record to 10-17 while the Cougars fell to 6-22 on the season.

 

Senior Carl Montgomery (Chicago, IL/Shepard) (Chicago, Ill.) led all scorers with a game-leading 22 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field and went 8-of-11 from the free throw line. He also produced four rebounds, two assists and a blocked shot for CSU.

 

Seniors Hajji Martin (Chicago, IL/Morgan Park) (Chicago, Ill.) and Jonathon Montgomery (Chicago, IL/Northern Iowa) (Chicago, Ill.) each added 10 points with Martin posting five boards.

 

SLU was paced by freshman Dwayne Evans' double-double of a game-high 17 rebounds and 16 points, while fellow freshman Mike McCall added 16 points. Junior Brian Conklin contributed 14 points on the evening.

 

The Green and White continue their road swing this Saturday with a Great West Conference contest against defending GWC champion South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D. The opening tip from the DakotaDome is scheduled for an 8 p.m., start time.
