Dockery’s 19 Points Paces Chicago State in 72-54 Home Win over South Dakota in Great West Women’s Basketball Contest

Junior Janay Dockery tallied 19 points to lead Chicago State past South Dakota in Great West Conference action

CHICAGO – Junior Janay Dockery (Detroit, MI/Martin Luther King) (Detroit, Mich.) led all scorers with 19 points as host Chicago State opened its final homestand of the season by posting a 72-54 victory over South Dakota Thursday evening in a Great West Conference women's basketball contest at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center.

The Green and White bounced back from a 25-20 halftime deficit to score 52 second-half points while shooting 64 percent from the field.

Dockery shot 8-of-17 from the field while adding five rebounds and four assists on the day, while senior Tressa Beckel (Waseca, Minn./Wisconsin) (Waseca, Minn.) added 15 points with game highs of seven boards and four steals for the Cougars, who improved to 17-8 (8-0) to set a new Division I school record for wins in a season.

Seniors Courtney Waldon (Sun Prairie, WI/Sun Prairie) (Sun Prairie, Wis.) and Caila Desroches (Long Island, NY/Monroe CC) (Long Island, N.Y.) each added 14 points, and junior Natalie Marlowe (South Milwaukee, WI/South Milwaukee) (South Milwaukee, Wis.) recorded out a game-high 10 assists with six points.

Freshman Stacia Robertson scored 14 points to lead South Dakota, while sophomores Tempestt Wilson and Alexis Yackley each contributed 12 points.

CSU concludes its home schedule this Saturday afternoon with its annual homecoming game against North Dakota in a GWC showdown beginning at 2 p.m. The Cougars will honor the senior class of 2011 in a senior day ceremony prior to the game.
